CAMERATA OF ST JOHN'S INC FOUNDER'S CLUB
The Founder's Club is an initiative of the Camerata Board, set up to enable individual donors to invest in the establishment of a professional chamber orchestra based in Queensland, for the benefit of future generations of musicians and music lovers.
We are delighted that Camerata’s Founder Elizabeth Morgan, a distinguished musician and pedagogue, was the inaugural member, a symbolic and practical demonstration of her confidence in the future of this exceptionally talented ensemble.
The Camerata Board extends an invitation to you to become a member of the Founder’s Club. The basis of membership is a minimum donation of $3,000 per annum for three years – renewable if desired.
Founder’s Club Members enjoy preferential bookings to all events, preferential access to Camerata services for private events, acknowledgement in Camerata programs, and an annual member’s only “At Home” hosted by founder Elizabeth Morgan at her home.

A MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER
Please join me in establishing something of immeasurable worth in our community – something for present and future generations, to foster amazing talents, and add inspiration to daily life.
Culturally Brisbane has come of age. It is time for a fine string chamber orchestra like Camerata of St John’s to flourish.
After 45 years teaching and playing in Brisbane, I have gained a rich perspective on the significance of listening to fine music and the role it plays in the life of a performer. Wealth from this association is even greater if one is blessed enough to be a string player!
I originally experimented with the educational value of membership of an unconducted string orchestra. Camerata of St John’s provided a rich and potent learning environment for my students not offered elsewhere, and the participation helped them stay connected with an inspired love of music making.
Many of these early members continued their lives nationally and internationally, often with great success. Whilst some have returned to Australia the majority remain in Europe and America enjoying a diverse range of high level music making. Dr Brendan Joyce, Camerata’s leader, is a fine example of someone who returned to Brisbane from USA.
Within the current Camerata ranks there are gifted young players who are prize winners of local, national and international competitions. Camerata supports their on going development of discerning music making and high level ensemble awareness.
Brisbane needs to foster these talented young artists and attract back more of those gifted people who have stayed away. Australia offers an incomparable lifestyle. A unique professional chamber orchestra in Brisbane will nurture our finest young performers and make it attractive and worthwhile for some who are overseas to return to Queensland and contribute to the cultural life of our city.
There are many worthy causes seeking valid financial support. But the inspiration which comes from exquisite, high level music making has its place as an uplifting, aesthetic need for many people in a challenging world. It is also important to seek it out and cultivate it. I doubt I could I have maintained my involvement in teaching over such a long period had I not believed passionately in the value and significance of fostering string playing for our developmental, cultural and spiritual enrichment.
I welcome your participation.
Elizabeth Morgan
