String Fantasy – Performance
Strings are our passion! This concert portrays the emotions, expressivity and searing beauty that have come to define the string orchestra.
Li-Wei Qin, award-winning cellist, joins Camerata as international guest soloist in Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C Major and the great ‘cello composer’ Sculthorpe’s touching Lament for Strings.
The last time Camerata performed Sir Michael Tippett’s sublime, virtuoso showpiece, Fantasia on a Theme of Corelli, was for an acclaimed, unconducted performance in the presence of the composer himself.
Here the Fantasia is teamed with Richard Strauss’ epic and profound Metamorphosen for 23 Solo Strings. String Fantasy is performed alongside Australian Strings Association’s 40th Anniversary National Conference held in Brisbane.
…a meltingly beautiful tone.
