After over three years with Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra in the role of Executive Director, Michael Sterzinger has recently accepted the position of Chief Executive of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. Michael will begin that role in November 2024.
Since joining Camerata in May 2021, Michael has provided exceptional leadership, building an effective team to support Camerata’s creative ambitions and imagination. Michael has been a vital part of Camerata, leading growth and consolidation of Camerata’s role in the musical landscape of Queensland, achieving growth in our donor base and funding partnerships, initiating the Reconciliation Action Plan, and strengthening our creative and community initiatives. We will miss Michael’s leadership. We respect his decision to move to a new role, and we are excited for a reinvigorated collaboration with the QSO under his leadership.
The board of Camerata anticipates a smooth transition and the continued delivery of our exciting program for 2025 and ambitious strategic plan that looks forward to marking our 40th birthday in 2027. During the transitional period our wonderful Managing Producer, Angela Loh, will step into the interim Executive Director role. Angela will work closely with her long-term colleague, Artistic Director, Brendan Joyce, to lead the team and musicians until we appoint a permanent replacement for Michael in early 2025.
These interim leadership arrangements will provide stability and continuity for our team, musicians, and importantly, you – our audience.
We appreciate your continued support as we navigate this change. We are confident that with your partnership and continued support, Camerata can continue its mission to empower musicians, inspire audiences and enrich communities.
Thank you for your ongoing support for Camerata and our musicians.
