“Loving, touching and bold, the standing ovation which greeted this performance was well deserved.” (Limelight)
“Featuring the new collaborative work Ngapa William Cooper, Camerata’s latest programme delivers warmth, drama and virtuosity.” (Brisbane Live Reviews)
Last Saturday, Camerata returned to the Concert Hall stage, QPAC to present our highly anticipated concert Camerata, Lou Bennett & Lior: Ngapa William Cooper as part of Brisbane Festival. A special and transcending evening that culminated in a standing ovation.
We hope our audience was moved and transported by the ethereal voices of Lior and Lou Bennett as much as we were, as they delighted QPAC’s Concert Hall with their own songs and told the incredible story of Uncle William Cooper.
Special thanks to Nigel Westlake and Lior for composing such a captivating and heartfelt composition, Lou for writing the lyrics in Uncle William Cooper’s native tongue and Brisbane Festival for co-presenting this concert.
It was a true honour to perform this breath-taking work and Queensland premiere arrangement for chamber orchestra.
We cannot wait to do this all again on Thursday 12 September in Toowoomba at Empire Theatres.
