Cheryl Leavy

Cheryl Leavy is a member of the Board and the Education and Artistic Working Group. After many years working on transformative First Nations strategy and policy, Cheryl is currently consulting and pursuing creative projects.

A former Executive Director Partnerships with the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service at the Department of Environment and Science, Cheryl worked with First Nations peoples to progress land justice and care for Country.

She led the Indigenous Land and Sea Ranger program, the Cape York Tenure Resolution Program, Treaty readiness and First Nations strategy and policy reform. Cheryl was previously a Deputy Commissioner at the Queensland Family and Child Commission, driving improvement and reform in the child protection and family support system for all Queenslanders.

A poet and writer, Cheryl has also performed on stage with Camerata.
