Camerata in Concert – Proserpine
Join Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra for an unforgettable evening of beloved and joyous classical music alongside a new Australian work in a performance that the whole family will enjoy!
Camerata in Concert will feature a 15-piece orchestra and a joyous program featuring works by Dvorak, Vivaldi and more, with Camerata’s Rory Smith as cello soloist, and a brand-new composition by Camerata’s 2023 Emerging Composer-in-Residence, Ray Lin in a performance that the whole family will enjoy!
Camerata is delighted to premiere Lin’s piece in regional Queensland, following a long tradition of local audiences loving new music commissioned by Camerata, previously based on the Fraser Coast, Emerald, Winton in Western Queensland, and more. This year, Lin’s work is inspired by his recent trip exploring the Whitsunday region and will conjure evocative soundscapes in an exciting new work for string orchestra.
Performing without a conductor, the two-time Helpmann Award nominated ensemble has established itself as a chamber orchestra of national significance. Known for their innovative and adventurous programming, Camerata thrives on collaborations with artists across a range of artforms and delights in working and performing with local musicians of any age and experience.
Don’t miss this one-night-only concert.
