CLASSIQUE
Our gala season opener, Classique, brings Camerata together with Australian violinist, Jane Peters, in a program that shimmers with classical elegance and refined romanticism.
Ms Peters is a substantive musician and a refined violinist. [Her] tone is luminous and true; her playing is articulate and supple.
THE NEW YORK TIMES
Jane Peters made her stage debut at age 10 and came to national attention two years later as winner of the Showcase Competition on Australian television. A former prize-winner of the Tchaikovsky Competition, Jane Peters’ exclusive Australian appearance includes an unconducted performance of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto and Mozart’s tender Adagio.
For the first time Camerata will perform Prokofiev’s Classical Symphony and Stravinsky’s Pulcinella Suite, highly refined works by Russian composers that look back to earlier classical era music for inspiration.
As you would expect of a Tchaikovsky Competition winner, Jane Peters has lots & lots of technique….graceful, logical, propulsive and full of sound – what commitment, what intelligence and what beautiful playing.
