Empire Theatres, Toowoomba

EMPIRE THEATRE, TOOWOOMBA

In 2018 Camerata celebrated a decade of touring performances direct from Brisbane stages to the Empire Theatres, Toowoomba.

To mark the occasion, Camerata become Ensemble-in-Residence at the Empire in 2018, enabling mainstage concerts to be presented in Toowoomba and a suite of education and other performances to take place.

qpac, 2014-2024

Camerata was Company-in-Residence at QPAC from 2014-2024, which enabled the ensemble to grow significantly throughout this period. Camerata is sincerely grateful to QPAC’s advocacy which has supported Camerata’s growth and ascendency at a key time in our history.

Camerata continues to present our mainstage concert program in the QPAC Concert Hall thanks to QPAC’s support.

Rockhampton Museum of Art, 2024

Camerata was Artist-in-Residence at the Rockhampton Museum of Art from October to December 2024, where through musical play and composition, five musicians, along with Camerata’s 2024 Emerging Composer-in-Residence Alexandra Mison, responded to works from Collection Focus: Women and the National Gallery of Australia’s touring exhibition, Know My Name: Australian Women Artists.

Visitors witnessed unique, immersive musical experiences where musician and composer collaborate to create new music that explores the core theme of the exhibitions. The residency culminated in a ticketed performance in the gallery on Friday, 6 December 2024 and free pop-up roving performances on Saturday 7 December 2024 where museum visitors had the opportunity to hear the ensemble perform the outcomes of their inspiration among the art that inspired them.

Museum of Brisbane, 2022

Camerata was Artist-in-Residence at the Museum of Brisbane in this unique residency where five musicians from Brisbane-based Camerata, along with their 2022 Emerging Composer-in-Residence Alexander Voltz, share their time between MoB’s Studio and the Making Place: 100 Views of Brisbane exhibition, putting artistic process and collaboration on full display.

Visitors witnessed unique, immersive musical experiences where musician and composer collaborate to create new music that explores the ever-evolving question, “what makes place?”. The residency culminated in a ticketed performance in the gallery and free pop-up performances on Saturday 12 November 2022 at 10:30am, 11:30am and 12:30pm where museum visitors had the opportunity to hear the ensemble perform the outcomes of their inspiration among the art that inspired them.

MUSEUM OF BRISBANE, 2021

Camerata was Artist-in-Residence at the Museum of Brisbane in an innovative partnership where Camerata’s players inhabit the gallery, responding through music to the exhibition City in the Sun (2021).

The residency culminated in a performance on Friday, 20 August 2021 and free pop-up performances on Saturday, 28 August 2021 where museum visitors had the opportunity to hear the ensemble perform the outcomes of their inspiration among the art that inspired them.

MUSEUM OF BRISBANE, 2018

In 2018 Camerata was Artists-in-Residence at the Museum of Brisbane in an partnership where Camerata’s players inhabited the gallery, responding through music to a world premiere exhibition Life In Irons.

The residency culminated in a performance where museum visitors had the opportunity to hear the ensemble perform the outcomes of their research amongst the objects that inspired them.

HOTA, HOME OF THE ARTS, GOLD COAST, 2018

In 2018, 52 Strings marked Camerata’s debut as Ensemble-in-Residence at HOTA, Home of the Arts, Gold Coast. Supported by HOTA, Home of the Arts, Camerata inspired audiences across the Gold Coast region through education activity, community engagement, and live performances.
