Hear an exclusive concerto performance by the Grand Prize winner of the 2020 Sydney International Piano Competition. One of the world’s most gruelling piano competitions, it is held only once every four years. Two weeks before this concert, Camerata will accompany the six finalists in the Grand Final at Sydney Town Hall before bringing the winner home with us! This will be the greatest Wild Card Mystery Guest we have ever presented, and we look forward to sharing this exquisite program with you. While we can’t tell you what the winner will play, we can tell you that we’ll open the concert with Aaron Copland’s Hoedown from his ballet, Rodeo, a work that is enthusiastically received whenever we play it. You can also expect a sense of French perfume, style and elegance in a world première arrangement for string orchestra of Debussy’s String Quartet by Queensland arranger, Gail Aitken. The concert also includes the exquisite Concertino, a lesser known gem by the great Australian composer, Margaret Sutherland.
