Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra presents a sublime program of music intertwining a new Australian work with timeless masterpieces on their 2022 regional tour, visiting Mackay, Rockhampton, Emerald, Barcaldine and Longreach.
Classical Reimagined will feature classical masterpieces by Mozart and Tchaikovsky in stunning new interpretations, along with a brand-new composition by Camerata’s Emerging Composer-in-Residence, Alexander Voltz in a performance that the whole family will enjoy!
Inspired by his recent trip exploring the Emerald region, Voltz’s piece will conjure evocative soundscapes in an exciting new work for string orchestra. Camerata is delighted to premiere the work in regional Queensland, following a long tradition of local audiences loving new music commissioned by Camerata, previously based on the Fraser Coast, Winton and Paronella Park in Far North Queensland. Camerata thanks the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation for making this commission possible.
Each year, the ensemble embarks on a regional Queensland tour which provides the opportunity for Camerata’s talented musicians to perform for the local community, run strings workshops with schools and local musicians, and bring Camerata’s unique and joyful music-making to regional Queenslanders.
Camerata recently visited Mackay, Rockhampton, Emerald, Barcaldine and Longreach ahead of their tour to collaborate with teachers on educational activities as well as consult with the local community. Camerata will also present a concert program for aged care and respite care residents as well as deliver their education program to kindergarten children.
Camerata delights in their annual regional tour, a highlight of Camerata’s program, and enriching communities across Queensland through music.
