Congratulations to Alexandra Mison, Camerata’s 2024 Emerging Composer-in-Residence!
Alexandra is a composer and pianist based in Meanjin/Brisbane and her compositional style is driven by emotive, lyrical melodies. She often finds herself drawing inspiration from nature and little moments in everyday life. Alexandra has composed for a number of ensembles including Vox Llinette, Queensland Youth Orchestra 3, QYO Wind Symphony, Pulse Chamber Orchestra and Sketch Ensemble, and has just completed a residency with Vox Camerata Choral Collective (2023) and QYO (2023). In 2021, Alexandra was also awarded a Special Mention in the Australian Women’s Wind Band Composition Award. (Find out more at alexandramison.com)
“We had a really wonderful pool of applications for this year’s Emerging Composer-in-Residence so the decision was quite difficult, but in the end it was Alexandra’s evocative and attractive style that won us over, and I’m excited about what she’ll come up with for our regional touring commission.”
Brendan Joyce, Camerata Artistic Director and Violinist
We look forward to working with Alexandra and supporting her works, which will premiere on our regional Queensland tour in May/June 2024.
Welcome, Alexandra!
