Orava Quartet in Nocturne
An evening of vibrant and diverse string quartet music, celebrating the launch of the Orava Quartet’s highly anticipated second album.
Featuring one of the all-time favourite works for string quartet, Borodin’s lush and romantic String Quartet No. 2 is instantly recognisable for its swoon-worthy Nocturne, written as a likely anniversary gift from the composer to his wife. Schulhoff’s experimental and rhythmic “Five Pieces for String Quartet”, loosely inspired by the music of 1920s dance halls, along with Peter Sculthorpe’s haunting and evocative Quartet No. 9.
Proudly in their ninth year as Quartet-in-Residence with Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra, the Orava Quartet will showcase their virtuosity and heart-on-sleeves sensitivity with these three distinct and captivating works.
Don’t miss what will surely be an unforgettable musical experience.
