Camerata Re-Mastered
We have been very much looking forward to welcoming for you Camerata’s upcoming performance of Compassion Featuring Lior, an evening featuring extraordinary music by classical and contemporary composers. We regret to advise that due to the Victorian lockdown, this performance cannot go ahead in its current format as special guest artist Lior is impacted by existing travel restrictions and border closures. Although Lior’s performance with Camerata is postponed, we do hope to collaborate with him in the future to bring Compassion to the stage.
Despite this disappointing set-back, Camerata is determined to welcome audiences to a performance on the same day with a revised program that will feature much of the same work originally planned including Beethoven’s Grosse Fugue, Turina’s sensual Bullfighter’s Prayer, Steve Reich’s minimalist Duet, and the world premiere of Beyond the Front Door by Queensland composer, John Rotar.
New in this revised program called Camerata Re-Mastered will be the 2021 composition of Little Corellas by Camerata’s founding leader Cameron Patrick as well as Betty Beath’s Woman’s Song and Samuel Barber’s beautiful Adagio for Strings immortalised in the movie Platoon.
Featuring Camerata’s Quartet-in-Residence, the Orava Quartet, the concert will close with Edward Elgar’s Introduction and Allegro for String Quartet and String Orchestra.
