“I love connecting with students and educators in regional and remote parts of Queensland because I enjoy sharing my knowledge and feel the students and teachers fully embrace the information we exchange during the ROAD program. I always feel so proud of the progress the students achieve in a short amount of time. The local teachers are so supportive of the program and very professional in their approach.”
(Marian Heckenberg, Camerata’s Principal Double Bassist and Mentor of Camerata’s ROAD program).”
Over the last few weeks, students (and our very first adult participant) in Proserpine, Cannonvale, Cairns and Mossman have been taking part in Camerata’s Regional Online Artist Development (ROAD) program.
Our ROAD program provides students with fully sponsored online mentoring sessions, and is designed to further enhance and support the work of local teachers in regional areas and provide an opportunity for students to gain specialised insight from Camerata’s Artistic Associates across Violin, Cello, Double Bass and Viola.
“I am loving the Camarata lessons with Ariana. Ariana is very friendly and patient and explains ideas really well. It’s been great to have her listen to me play as she has different ideas and feedback which has helped. I feel like I’ve improved in my playing and the pieces are sounding a lot better. I look forward to the lessons each week. Thank you Ariana and Camerata.” (Madi Coates, ROAD student about her lessons with mentor Upbeat artist Ariana Dedecius).
“This program has been fantastic for many of my leaders in my various ensembles, I’m certainly hearing a difference in their playing and they are much more confident in general.” Finn Williams, Instrumental Music Teacher – Strings (Proserpine State High School).
