Meet Chaeeun Oh, one of Camerata’s 2023 Upbeat artists!

Chaeeun was born in Seoul but moved to Australia at the age of 5. She started playing the violin in grade 3, and progressively found that she was enjoying playing her instrument more and more. She joined school orchestras and took private lessons, and participated in external music programs such as QYO, AYO, Redlands Eisteddfod, Brisbane Eisteddfod and AMEB/theory examinations, which led her to develop her musical skills.  

Chaeeun knew she wanted to pursue a professional career because of how much she enjoys playing, performing, and being present on stage. She finds a lot of inspiration in many professional musicians and, as an upcoming professional musician herself, loves being able to solely focus on music and playing music every day. 

Chaeeun applied to the Upbeat Program after her teacher at the Queensland Conservatorium recommended it to her and found moments of the program through Camerata’s social media. 

She sees in Camerata’s Upbeat program a great opportunity to learn more about music and the industry and gain experience in the industry, to continue learning about chamber music playing and to become more creative in music-making.  

So far this year, Chaeeun has gained valuable industry experience through joining Camerata to perform on Synthony (March), travelling with us on our Regional Queensland Tour through Far North Queensland, performing in the pit for Queensland Ballet’s Trilogy and you’ll see her on stage with us next week for Viva Violin.
